Geek in the Creek

The next time you see some geek in the creek, fly fishing and wading in blue jeans and tennis shoes, consider this one fact… He / she might not be some duffus, that has no clue or business being in the water, chunking bugs to any thing that swims! He / she may in fact, just be an ill prepared, experienced fly fisher person that decided on a whim, to ditch work and road trip to a new fishing location with a friend!

Proper fishing attire be damned, fish when you can!

Luling Zedler Mill Paddling Trail

I spent most of Saturday out on the San Marcos River paddling the Luling Zedler Mill Paddling Trail! This trip marked a bit of a milestone for me, as it was my first “point a to point b” solo trip in the “Floatin’ Habanero“! I’ve been out for longer and paddled further, but that was a round trip paddle on Lake Georgetown.

The Zedler Mill trail is nothing short of jaw dropping! My time spent out on the river was everything I expected… there were cows (cows swimming across the river!!!!), fish, 2 log jams to portage around, beautiful scenery and at times, just far away from civilization to hear JUST nature! That last one is not something  easily obtained around Central Texas these days. Those peaceful quite times should be savored, like a fine, well cooked Filet Mignon grilled on an open flame served with a cold Shiner Bock! The trip is highly recommended by FlyLines… If you’re interested in making the float, let me know, I would love to tag along.

Thanks for playing along, now lets go kayaking!
